Common Clean Beauty Questions

I understand what clean beauty is, but why are there so many different definitions?

At its core, clean beauty refers to products made with safe, ethical ingredients that are beneficial to your skin. Every brand and source has a different definition but to us, we create products with a strict standard where our skincare is formulated without toxic ingredients (we have a long list that we don’t include) and is made in a sustainable way.

What are considered toxic ingredients?

Our list of what we consider toxic ingredients include parabens, phthalates, PEGs, ethanolamines, formaldehydes, BHT, BHA, alcohol, DEA, sulfate detergents, silicones, synthetic dyes, aluminum powder, and much more.

Check out this resource to learn more about which toxic products are on the market - just not on ours.

What makes your “hand-picked” ingredients clean?

Our product lines are inspired by both raw juices, smoothies, and plant-based milks. If the products are good enough to be consumed, we know they are good enough to be used on our skin! This is why our team worked hard to hand-pick ingredients that work well together and target specific skin needs. See our list of ingredients found below each product to learn more about how these fruits and vegetable extracts help your skin.

Are your sheet masks actually made of fruits and vegetables?

Our mask ingredients are carefully curated to include fruit and vegetable extracts that are effective at targeting specific skin needs. Our sheet masks are PETA-certified vegan and do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. Specifically, our masks include ingredient extracts such as kale, spinach, blueberries, watermelon, strawberries, avocado, and lemon.

What makes your brand sustainable?

Our Smoothie Lip Treatments are enclosed in a recyclable paper box created from FSC Paper Board, a material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council®️ (FSC®️). This certification guarantees the use of responsibly sourced wood fiber. The external box is printed using soy-based ink, eliminating the need for petroleum-based alternatives. Unlike petroleum-based ink, soy ink does not contain heavy metals that could contaminate water and soil when deposited in landfills. The tubes are composed of a specially-curated blend of 50% PCR (post-consumer recycled) materials made from discarded plastic bottles

Our Raw Juice Cleanse and Plant-Based Milk Sheet Masks are made of cupra, a fabric made from cotton linter. Cotton linter was previously discarded as a waste product in cotton production and is now being reused as a lightweight, compostable and biodegradable fabric that is very absorbent. The mask pouches are made of LDPE plastic, which is recyclable under recycling code #4. Our sheet masks are certified compostable and can be composted at home and at industrial facilities.

Our Soothing Tea Facial Tools are packaged in a recyclable paper tube made of post-consumer recycled content and is printed with soy ink. The tools also include a reusable canvas pouch for when you are on the go.

Why are your products named after drinks?

While we place a focus on putting clean products on our skin, we also think it’s equally important to put clean and pure ingredients inside our bodies. The ESW Beauty lifestyle focuses on living healthily and happily. We don’t just create clean products, but we tell a story. That’s why our first line of products is inspired by raw juices. Fruits and vegetables play a vital role in maintaining our physical and mental health, so we created sheet masks that use those ingredients to be able to use them outside our bodies and directly on our skin.

For our soothing tea line of facial tools, including the Hibiscus White Tea Rose Quartz Gua Sha and Mint Green Tea Jade Crystal Jade Roller, we were inspired by the soothing and relaxing properties of both teas as well as the health benefits that compare to those of using a gua sha and facial roller.

Our plant-based milk line of sheet masks took inspirations from the soothing and nourishing benefits of various plant-based milks on the skin as well as the our overall health.

Lastly, our lip treatment line is all inspired by healthy smoothies and provides the same hydrating benefits to your lips. The fresh fruit and ingredients that our products are inspired by are hand-selected for their benefit both in and out of the body.
